Waterbed transport by Meisterumzug

Waterbed transport in Lucerne

A waterbed cannot simply be taken along: it has to be drained, dismantled and then rebuilt and refilled at the new address. We take that on.

  • Drained properly
  • Dismantling and rebuilding
  • Conditioner not forgotten
  • Can be planned into the move

A waterbed needs a schedule of its own

Draining takes one to three hours depending on the size and the pump, and refilling at the new address takes about as long. On top of that, the bed needs several hours after filling before the water reaches room temperature.

So a waterbed is not a side item on moving day. We plan it as a separate step, ideally draining the day before and transporting and rebuilding on the day of the move.

What to watch out for

The mattress liner must not be creased; creases later turn into leaks. So we roll it instead of folding it and transport it separately from the frame and the base.

When refilling, conditioner belongs in the water; without it, algae and bacteria form inside. We point that out and bring it along on request.

The new position

A filled waterbed weighs between 400 and 700 kilograms depending on size, but spread over the whole sleeping surface, which is why it is unproblematic in ordinary flats. In very old timber beam ceilings a quick check is still worthwhile.

What matters is a level, stable base and a power point for the heater. We settle both beforehand, so that nothing is missing on the day.

How the waterbed transport runs

  1. Enquiry

You give us the size, the type and the addresses with the storey.

  2. Draining

We pump it out, usually the day before, and dismantle the frame and the base.

  3. Transport

The liner travels rolled and separately, the frame parts protected.

  4. Rebuilding and filling

We rebuild, refill, add the conditioner and connect the heater.

Frequently asked questions

How long does the whole thing take?

Draining one to three hours, refilling about as long, plus several hours until the water reaches room temperature. That is why we usually drain the day before.

Can I use the bed the same evening?

Usually not. The water needs time to warm up. Plan an alternative for the first night.

Do I need new conditioner?

Yes, it belongs to every refill. We bring it along on request.

What if the liner is damaged?

We see its condition while draining and let you know. If the liner is old or brittle, the move is a good moment to replace it.
