Every object on its own
Artworks are not packed together. Every object gets its own packing, matched to the material, the format and its fragility: framed pictures with corner protectors and interleaving, unglazed paintings with spacers in front of the paint layer, sculptures padded and braced individually.
What goes without saying for household goods, stacking to save space, is ruled out here. Art transports therefore need more volume than their contents suggest.

Climate and vibration
Canvas, wood and paper react to changes in humidity and temperature. Over short routes within the canton of Lucerne that is manageable; on longer transports or in winter we allow time for warming up and acclimatising.
Vibration is the second issue. We brace things so that nothing can work loose, and drive with anticipation. We choose the route by road quality, not by the shortest time.
Documentation and insurance
Before the transport we record the condition, with photographs and, for larger collections, a list. That makes it traceable in what condition an object was taken on.
The insured value is agreed beforehand, ideally on the basis of an existing valuation or policy. If storage in between is needed, we recommend climate controlled storage.

Frequently asked questions
Do you hang pictures at the new address?
On request yes, where the fixing is unproblematic. With heavy objects or delicate walls we will tell you when a specialist is the better choice.
How is the value determined?
On the basis of an existing valuation, a policy or your own statement. It is recorded in writing in the quote before the transport.
Can you store art in between?
Yes, and for that we recommend climate controlled storage. Ordinary storage rooms swing too much across the seasons for canvas and wood.
Do you document the condition beforehand?
Yes, with photographs and, for larger collections, a list. That is also the basis for the insurance.
