Why sorting pays off
Disposal is billed by weight and by type of material, and combustible bulky waste sits at the top end. Everything that can be passed on instead drops out of that bill.
On a household liquidation that makes a noticeable difference. So we sort instead of throwing everything into the same skip. The environmental benefit is one reason, the economic one the other.

What can be passed on
What is accepted is whatever somebody else can still use. The condition decides it, not the age.
Furniture
Cupboards, tables, chairs, chests of drawers and sofas in good, clean condition.
Household goods
Crockery, cutlery, glassware, kitchen appliances, decorations and tools.
Books and media
Books, records, CDs and board games, all in demand at the Brockenhaus.
Textiles
Clean, wearable clothing, bed linen, curtains and rugs.
Working appliances
Small appliances that still run; faulty ones go into the electrical take back scheme.
Not accepted
Damaged or soiled furniture, worn out mattresses, faulty appliances, hazardous waste.
How the Brocki service runs
Usually it belongs to a clearance or a household liquidation: we sort as we clear, load separately and take usable items to the Brockenhaus. That share feeds into the fixed price.
It can also be booked on its own, for instance when a clear out leaves furniture that is too good to throw away. Whatever cannot be accepted goes into disposal.

Frequently asked questions
Do I get money for my furniture?
No, it is a handover and not a purchase. Your benefit is that less has to be disposed of at a cost and the items get used again.
What is not accepted?
Badly damaged or soiled furniture, worn out mattresses, faulty appliances and hazardous waste. Those go into disposal instead. We separate that for you.
Do I have to pre-sort?
No, we do that on site. Just tell us what you want to keep.
Does it work without a clearance?
Yes. For single pieces of furniture or a corner of a cellar, a short collection appointment is enough.
