Why attics take more effort
An attic sits at the end of the route: above the topmost flat, reached by a narrow and often steep staircase, sometimes only through a hatch. Everything that is to come down has to be carried, piece by piece.
In older Lucerne buildings the stairwells wind tightly as well. Large pieces of furniture that were once taken up often only come down again dismantled. We plan for that rather than discovering it on site.
When a furniture lift is cheaper
For large volumes or bulky pieces the furniture lift pays off: whatever can go out through the roof window or the dormer is down in a fraction of the time, and without risk to the stairwell.
Whether it adds up we tell you at the survey. Rule of thumb: from about half a day of pure carrying time, the lift is usually the cheaper option.
Attics often hold old things
Attics are long term stores. Alongside the junk there are often old chests, farmhouse cupboards, trunks, picture frames and crockery, things that can be passed on through the Brocki service instead of going to incineration.
With obviously old or unusual pieces we let you know before we take them. If you suspect real value, have them valued beforehand. We do not buy.

Frequently asked questions
Does it work if the attic is only reachable through a hatch?
Yes, but it takes longer, because everything has to go through the opening one piece at a time. Mention it with your enquiry so that we cost it correctly.
When do we need a furniture lift?
With large volumes or bulky furniture that will not fit through the stairwell. Whether it is worth it we can see at the survey.
What happens to old furniture from the attic?
Pieces in good condition go on through the Brocki service. With strikingly old items we ask you first before we take them.
Is the attic cleaned as well?
We hand it back swept clean. A more thorough clean can be added as final cleaning if you need it.
